Alaïa has abandoned the traditional jean silhouette this season; rather than recycling the classics for a quick fix, the Maison returned to the drawing board and drew a rather large circle. This preliminary drawing has now transformed into the deliberately over-proportioned Round jeans, a pair that makes no apology for its large-and-in-charge aesthetic, day or night.
The legendary Paris fashion house was founded in the sixties and by the 1980s, Tunisian sculptor and couturier, Azzedine Alaïa’s powerful, feminine silhouettes were revered worldwide. Today, his legacy prevails in dresses and ready to wear, shoes and bags, including the cult La Coeur heart bag.
